Christmas in Style
Does anyone else get that sneaking feeling that if you blink, you’ll open your eyes and Christmas will be upon us? Are you the kind that is organised well in advance with gifts wrapped by the end of October or are you more of a mad-dash-on-Christmas-Eve sort? It’s undeniably a special time of year and what better way to lead up to the big day than spending it cruising the rivers of Europe just in time for the Christmas markets?
Aside from the romanticism of cruising the European rivers in the lead up to Christmas, with the shops and villages all decked out with fairy lights and decorations, the Christmas markets are something to behold. Each year, artists of all kinds bring their wares to the markets – you find intricate woodworks, paintings, decorations, dolls, gifts and more. It’s a perfect place to shop for the family and the perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit!
Christmas Market cruises generally run from late November through December – ideal for enjoying your cruise and returning home relaxed and happy just in time for Christmas with the family!
Other options include Christmas cruises that are sailing (or in port) on Christmas Day which are particularly popular with those who may not have family nearby to celebrate with. They’re also a good option for groups so that no one has the job of cooking and preparing for the masses!
If Europe doesn’t appeal, the Plantation Christmas Markets along the Mississippi, cruising on board an old-style paddlesteamer with all the trimmings might be the ticket!
Christmas Market cruises are always popular and Christmas 2020 prices are out and selling well, so it pays to get in early while the good deals are out. For example, you may get a free upgrade to the next cabin grade, or discounted cruise/fly rates by booking ahead.
