THE KIMBERLEY 2020 – BOOK NOW!

THE KIMBERLEY 2020 – BOOK NOW!

If you’ve been contemplating cruising The Kimberley in 2020, now’s the time to book. It may seem like it’s far away and who knows what might happen between now and then, but ships are already filling up … and that means prices are increasing.

The small expedition ships that visit this unique part of the world have limited capacity, meaning they usually take less than 300 passengers. Cruising is hugely popular here because people don’t want to drive the long distances and they can access places by ship that can’t be accessed by car. So when you get high demand and low capacity, you can understand why cruises to The Kimberley often book out a year ahead of departure.

Small ship companies bring out their best specials when the new itineraries are released. They will only release a certain number of these cabins at that price so once they’re gone, they’re gone.

Because The Kimberley is in our own backyard, people often mistakenly think they can leave it to the last minute to book as it’s not an overseas trip. But what they forget is that The Kimberley is a huge international attraction and people come from all over the world to see it – so if you are travelling from the US or Europe, a trip to The Kimberley is a big deal and they will book well in advance (using up the quota of early bird fares!).

But what do you do if you’ve got health concerns and can’t book that far in advance? Each cruise line has their own policy on when deposits are due and how much, but travel insurance will usually cover you for any loss of deposits if you have to cancel for medical reasons. We recommend you take out travel insurance at the same time as your first deposit so then you know you’re covered. Just make sure you check the fine print when choosing your travel insurance provider! While you’re doing that, also check if the insurance company offers specific cruise insurance that will cover you if you miss the ship during an excursion, or fall ill on board and are confined to your cabin.

So if cruising The Kimberley is on your list for 2020, we suggest looking at getting some plans in place as soon as you can. To have a look at our cruises to The Kimberley click here, or request a call from one of our Ultimate Cruising experts for more information.
