Cruising is a fantastic option for families to holiday together. In many cases, it is a lot more affordable than fly/stay holidays – especially if you have teenagers who like to eat everything on the menu! There’s also plenty of entertainment on offer and days filled with exploring new destinations. You’re unlikely to hear any “I’m bored” whining from kids on a cruise!
We also receive lots of enquiries from older families travelling together – perhaps taking elderly parents on holiday with them, or parents holidaying with grown children. What makes cruising such a good option for family groups is that there is a range of accommodation options available to suit all budgets, meals are all included and there are plenty of activities on offer so that you can spend time together, or go off and do your own thing.
There are plenty of destinations to choose from as well as a large choice of cruise ships and cruise lines. Some cruise lines will offer a second cabin at a reduced rate, or extra person sharing the cabin for a significant discount. There are also offers for free upgrades so you have more space or upgrades to a window or balcony. Cruises offering on-board credits can be a good option too as you can put those towards excursions, beverages or spa treatments.
Whether it’s an island-hopping tropical cruise, an Alaskan adventure, a river cruise through Europe or a local cruise around Australia or New Zealand, one thing is for sure – you’re bound to make incredible lasting memories together! We say, just do it!
